One thing the retail industry agrees on - there's nothing better than a three-dimensional form to show off clothing. Regardless of the style of the rest of the store, display mannequins find a niche in nearly any decor. Modern, chrome-plated fixtures look great with abstract or even headless mannequins. Rich, wood displays work well with realistic mannequins, either painted in flesh tones, or in choices such as cameo (all white) or all black.
Manikins became popular as clothing displays in the latter 1800s, and have never lost their appeal. There are numerous sizes, styles, colors and manufacturers to choose from, and no matter what your need, there is very likely a manikin out there to fill it.
If not, you can have your own mannequin created. It's a little pricey, but when the process is complete, you have a display that is tailored to your needs... and to those of your customers. In the long run, it's not a bad investment. We've found this company to be very helpful and inexpensive, should you choose to create your own custom mannequin.
Have fun with it! Add tattoos to your young male mannequin, or a "pierced" bellybutton to your junior mannequin.
